Name:                        Hans-Peter Müller, Ph.D.

Origin:                       Born in a small town in northeastern Switzerland; grown-up in Zurich.

Education:                 PhD in geography, cultural anthropology and sociology at the University of Zurich.

1983-2005:               Full professor at the Institute of Social Anthropology, University of Zurich.

Interests                Theories of development, developing countries, cross-cultural analysis,voyages.                        

Assignments outside Europe:

  1.     Cameroon           4 years: Evaluation of village drinking water supplies in Western Cameroon; supporting the            

                               setup of farmer cooperatives with the Swiss Development Corporation in Eastern Cameroon;


  1.     Namibia              3 years: HIV/AIDS prevention at the University of Windhoek.

  2.     Sri Lanka            1,5 years: Surveys and research related to management of irrigation systems, gender    

                               relations and women migration.

  1.     Bangladesh         1,5 years: Camp management with UNHCR (High Commissioner for Refugees).

  2.     Pakistan              1 year: With UNHCR.

  3.     Bhutan                6 months: With Asian Development Bank for Government Service Development.

  4.     Supervision of academic research in various countries in  Africa, Asia and in Cuba.

My last adventure:    Driving home by car from Namibia to Switzerland (in 2009)
